ASSE 6040 — Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Personnel

The ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Personnel certification targets individuals who maintain medical gas systems at healthcare facilities. The certification is based on the code requirements identified in NFPA 99 and NFPA 55. Candidates demonstrate competency in general knowledge, applications, components, operating principles, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Employment or contract with a healthcare facility, or active engagement with medical gas systems maintenance
  • Minimum one year of documented experience in maintenance or testing of medical gas systems
  • Completion of a 24-hour training course covering all aspects of ASSE Standard 6040
  • Successful passage of the 100-question certification examination
